Blending a G12K-100 with a Swamp Thang?

Hi fellow fuzzers!

I just blew out a g12k-100. Strange cause I wired them parallel in my 2x12 cabinet. I should have 200 watts RMS and my laney Klipp is only 100... maybe the envelope filter subs?

but anyway, I can buy a Swamp Thang for cheap and I wonder if it would blend nice with the other g12K-100?

I liked the combo of K100's but for now the swamp thang is a cheaper option and maybe something new and nice.

Is there a chance I will have some phasing problems?
Also, the K100's are rated 99db and the swamp thangs 102db. That is a big difference, in theory I don't mind, but are the connaisseurs and tone purists all right with that? :animal:

I like my sound heavy in the lows but still with some articulation in the mids.

Thanks!

Eh, the swamp may bury the other speaker. I love the combo of v30/swamp but its only because of the super present midrange that the v30 is heard, the k100 is pretty similiar tonewise to the swamp i believe so it may just get buried

i think the Swamp is a bit smoother than the K-100's. I have two cabs loaded the same with 2 G12K-100's a Swamp and an altec 417-8H. I feel the Swamp smooths it out a bit and the altec adds the highs and mids. Seems to work well. I am happy with them.

but phasing problems are bullshit when you mix 2 speakers of a different kind?

If you are going for HiFi sound reproduction and perfect efficiency, yes. However I am not at all interested in either of those things. Trust your ears.
