Best Fuzz For a Silverface Twin Reverb 135 watt Ultralinear?
I play a late 70's - early 80's Silverface Twin Reverb, yep that super loud 135 watt Ultralinear model. I love it, though sometimes distortion and fuzz can be difficult (but completely possible). I want to know your opinion on which would be the best fuzz (model, transistors,...) It's a loud amp, and some distortions/fuzz can hurt the ears, almost like my guitar tone gets drowned (with a band) out when i engage them, and when i try to compensate with volume it starts to make your ears bleed. I want a fuzz that will cut with the band but not in a way that's not going to kill my audience or my bands ears. What is the best fuzz for my amp and why? Thank you

I play lower watt SF fenders but I love my algal bloom with them, I find it to be a little thicker than many fuzzes thanks to the saturation knob, but cuts through the mix great.
Do you use single coils or humbuckers? I've been dying to try a frazz dazzler, and the Team Awesome has some great tones with relatively large dialing ability.

I play both, humbuckers and single coils.

In my opinion, I've never run into any fuzz that doesn't jive with the UL Twin. Uhhh...try a good muff?

i do test all of my stuff on a ultralinear silverface twin - the newer TAFMs will work a little better on a silverface if you turn the internal buffer off and allow the pedal to load down the input somewhat, otherwise it can get a little icepick-y with the shape knob turned up.

Try something with a bit more midrange character if you feel like you're disappearing in the mix.

Ape Blaster. Probably one of the best voiced pedals I've ever tried. The only drawback is that its a fixed fuzz, but it is damn near perfect. Very much able to cut through, and retains clarity very well.

Frazz is one of the most underrated fuzzes out there. Sounds awesome, sits well in the mix and the sizzle control is quite a clever way of reining in the high end content.

Depending on how much gain you need, I really liked my old DOD 250 with my Twin.
