I can't think of anything else I "need..."

I think I've finally hit the point where I have everything on my board (or at least on the board I'm rebuilding) that I "need." Right now the chain is looking like this...

- I/O box
- MusicomLab
loop 1: Foxrox CC Hybrid
loop 2: Diamond Comp
loop 3: Digitech Whammy 5
loop 4: EHX POG 2
- Paul C Tim
- G-lab MIDI x4 loop switcher
loop A: Zvex Mastotron
loop B: Arc Effects Big Green Pi
loop C: SS/BS Mini
loop D: Catalinbread SFT
- Boss Volume Pedal
- Strymon Mobius (Pre)
- MusicomLab
loop 5:
loop 6: Analogman Bi-chorus
loop 7: Catalinbread Echorec
loop 8: Strymon El Cap
- Strymon Timeline
- Strymon Mobius (Post)
- Eventide Space

So, all bases are pretty much covered there and there's still a loop left open. I'm thinking I might just put the Tim in a loop that's left on most of the time, since that's the function I use it for (and turn the boost on/off to drive the other pedals/amps).

Sure there are some other pedals I'd like to try/have (Scarab Deluxe, Frazz Dazzler, Elements, FY-6, etc) but they're really just flavours of dirt and I feel I'm pretty covered there for what I'm doing. I'm not saying my pedalboard is finished for good but I just can't think of anything else to really put on it?

Can I move on to amps now? :P

If you think you are done, you're probably done. I mean it's so well thought out that it really looks like you've thought about it.
I spent the past two years figuring stuff out for what I do, flipping pedals and buying new stuff to try and about two to three months ago I figured out exactly what I need to both record and play live, and my board hasn't changed since. Of course that means I've reached boring old man status, but it's definitely saved money. Of course I still GAS over stuff, but now I actually question do I NEED it to enhance the sounds that I am making now, or would it be redundant.

But like you said, then you move to something else haha. First it was pedals, then it was amps, and now it's getting my guitars in a line. It never truly ends hahaha

Well, my list to to-try pedals seems to be mostly different shades of dirt now. I mean, I'd love to have a trem, a ring mod, a vibe, etc, but I just don't use them enough to justify a single pedal for each one so the Mobius/Timeline/Space really cover a lot of ground. I can always through a fuzz in front of the whole thing if I want anyways so....

If I were you, I would move on to the DIY frontier.

If you can't think of anything else you need, you probably don't need anything else! Seems like a nice sitch to be in.

Dont push it i guess :idk: Your collection seems very versatile and I guess buying more only for having more is pointless

Yea, this stuff is a means to an end.

I only buy stuff these days that meets the "will help me in some way to do that" - I know what stuff sounds like, what I need to make it, etc - now it's just filling the rare void, which ironically is composed mostly of "normal people" stuff simply because I didn't find uses for it for a long time as I was chasing other things.

But occasionally it's useful to be able to step on "normal" sounds and go weird from that perspective too..

I realistically have everything I've ever wanted and then some, I'd like another Bass VI just to have a backup, but past that, I just wait for good deals to show up and the little voice in my head I've learned to listen to nagging me incessantly about something in particular.

I know the difference between that voice and "ooh, shiny."

Maybe some odd noise makers, like ring mods or odd fuzzes?

Definitely! That's the general theme of this post; Despite many awesome pedals, I can't think of any sound I'd want to make that I can't. :joy:

 I started enjoying making music again when I decided to stop being a career musician and settle down into a music industry based job; much happier now that I'm not "forced" to do it, and by other peoples standards.

That little voice is how I ended-up with 2 4x12's, haha. Great deals on both and even though I'd love another, I don't "need" one, so the voice stays quiet.

I thought about that; I do love Ring Mod, but I've tried a bunch over the years and I just don't use them enough to justify a single pedal for it, hence the Mobius. I really want the AWttson FY-6 or the Basic Audio Peak Freq but... I don't think I'd use them enough, to be honest, and that's where this post came from. :p
