Boss HM-2 Faulty Output Jack

Hello everyone,
I've recently acquired an HM-2 which initially produced a bit of hiss from the output jack and now fails to carry sound completely. The jack has very little resistance when a cable is inserted.
Would it be easy/cheap to correct this problem? Or should I just return the pedal?

You should take it to the pedal doctor because it's a very excellent pedal and if you can save it, you should....

If you are sure it's the jack, it should be an easy fix.
Open it up and see if you can bend the prongs of the jack down to get a tighter grip on the cable end.
It could also be a bad connection so check those out while you're in there.

I'm not sure that it's the jack but I get that impression.
How much would it cost (I'm in the UK) if the jack had to be replaced? I have a soldering iron but I've never done anything other than change pickups before.

You shouldn't have any issues soldering in the new jack. Take a picture and label the wires whether they went to sleeve or tip, and swap the new jack in. But first I would do as MEC said and see if bending the prongs back in will solve the issue.
