My thoughts: yeah, the Klon dude f'ed up. he had a goooooood thing and didn't take advantage of it and give people what they wanted, all the sharks circled in the water and ate it up. whatever. I don't even have a problem with EHX coming in and stepping on the small builder's toes by undercutting everyone on Klones... good for the goose, etc.

BUT.... huge foul to use the dude's company name and pedal name as a direct comparison. we're not idiots, we can figure it out. weak.

Kind of seems like a low blow/act of desperation on EHX's part to make a freaking Klone. I mean come on, aren't there enough dudes sitting in their basements cranking out Klones and selling them to people? It didn't seem THAT hard to get a Klone if you wanted it. I digress.

PS why is it called the Soul Food? Makes no sense at all, much like most of what EHX has been putting out. It seems like their last decent idea was the Super Ego

I don't know what's happened, they reissued the hot tubes which was pretty cool and then just a string of crappy overdrives and distortions... maybe Mike Matthews is getting crazier with old age.

Even the Slaamii is a whammy... although it does sound very good and the price is right.

Wow. Just lost a lot of respect for EHX, and I've always been a fan.

I've never followed the Klon in any way, I know nothing about it or the builder...yeah, the price is super stupid (as are the prices of most Klones!). But. An effects GIANT directly referencing a small-builder's brand in their press release? That's dickish in a we're-trying-to-put-them-out-of-business-way, and surprisingly stupid from a legal standpoint.

Mike Matthews pushed his David-and-Goliath story of standing up to shady Russian mob figures (which I assume has some ounce of truth to them) to make himself more of a legend...in this story, the roles seem kinda reversed.

[EDIT: Maybe Klon dude is out of business and not returning, and maybe EHX has verified this...and if so, . Who cares if Klon cloners are upset by this.]

EHX should be innovating and taking advantage of their finances/designers to do new crazy stuff instead of touting overdrive copies.

Didn't EHX complain to ARC effects just a couple of weeks ago to change their pedal design and now EHX is ripping on other peoples stuff and bragging about it

I'm in the minority here... But, I'm kinda glad this happened. Far too long have companies lived off of the Klone wave. I'd rather see more innovative stuff and not more Klones of Klones. I'll chalk this up to EHX taking one for the team. Lol
