I don't think it would be impossible or crazy hard to do, it might take a Saturday or two depending on how bad it is. Is it closed-back or open back, and if it's open back did he paint the inside?

What color is it painted? Is think it may be a bitch getting all the paint out of the textured tolex and seams.

Is it paint on tolex? or did he strip the tolex and paint the wood?

What kind of paint did he use? Depending on what type it is will determine the methods that'll be the safest to use when removing it.

That's definitely true. But if he didn't paint any of the hardware or the grill cloth it might just be easier to retolex, unless you're concerned about keeping it all-original. Or just...

methylene chloride paint remover is what many vintage amp guys use when restoring tolex that's been painted.

I'd retolex or strip, sand and stain.

Depends on what era of tolex as well. I'd assume you're going to be refining the thing, not just stripping.

Price accordingly.

Does the wood underneath the tolex even look good? I thought it's just plywood or particle board or something cheap like that.
