Harmonic Peroclator: real talk

alright so i have a few questions about the Chuck Collins HP-1 reissue:

1. What's the deal with the graphics, i see some with them and some without. WHY?

2. These fuckers are up to like $300, are they worth it? I played chanks, ex-stripes, HP clone, it was cool, but it was really low gain. Does it sit well before/after other stuff for stacking only. I have an Infanem Driving Notion which i feel like is getting me so a similar place, maybe?

I've got this model, and it has the graphics...maybe to do with age or units or at some point to distinguish his from clones?

Its worth it. Its hit or miss stacking but often times I like the mess that results. It actually works well with most pedals you just have to dial it in.

You think it's low gain?

yeah, i don't think gain is what its about. i was just now playing the ghost effects pep box into the hp. they both sounded fine on their own, when i stacked them i needed to push the hp's balance(volume) up just a hair. but it also depends on where the other settings are too.

edit: i started with both pedals volume at midway point. gain on the pep box was dimed.

I use my perc clone that I got from Officer Bukowski as a drive. I also stack it before fuzz/distortion since it clips the other side of the wave form for some pretty awesome sustian

Honestly never tried stacking it after higher gain stuff! I will say that mine doesn't have the crazy oscillation that Albini's unit has. Kind of wish it did, but I still love that pedal

I like putting in everywhere, its always an interesting result with behind flangers and phasers. after high gain pedals it often spills into crazy feedback if you're lucky. i really like it in the feedback loop of my moogerfooger delay.

i JUST went and did a little listen, to jog the memory. i put the hp behind a redwitch phaser, with the settings at midpoint on the hp and a mildly fast wave on the phaser. the hp had more fuzz/gain than on its own, an the fuzz was intensifying parts of the waves in a unique sort of way. i left the setting the same and put the hp in front of the phaser, and its gain dropped and the fuzz just wasn't there. to get back to the same level of fuzz i had to crank up the harmonics, but the end result just wasn't near as interesting.

which is interesting. and that's what i remember, i like how it sounds behind modulation pedals.

i bet it would sound great in the flange. it kills in the meatball. :thumb:
