Players of Combos, and Head/Cab too I guess

Sorry if this has already been gone over.
So I've been looking through the
pics of peoples amps and noticed that there were a lot of combos just sitting on the floor. I'm wondering why you don't use a hammock of sorts to suspend the amp from floor vibration.....
just fuckin with ya.
What I am curious about is why so many combos and cabs ARE just sitting flat on the floor
I have seen some people take measures, but not many at least so far as the photos go. There are ampstands? Maybe kickback legs? Just a wedge of wood under the cab to tilt it up. These are just a couple means by which to get the speaker aimed at your ears so you can actually hear what your amp sounds like
When its on the floor you're hearing an unbalanced presentation. You're not hearing the treble properly. I know on stage it makes a difference too, for some shows I'll just use my combo for my monitor, if the soundman is copacetic. I do the same thing with my half stacks too, tilting them back. Of course I already keep my Heads on the floor
Does anybody did this or just doesnt care? Any inventive means you've devised. Do pedal builders take this into account and boost the treble assuming most people have their combos on the floor?

If you tilt the cabs back on stage you may hear everything fine but the audience won't.
The stage lifts the cab up to audience ear level so they will be getting the trebs anyway.

most clubs the crowd hears the pa. i like to hear my amp, like i mentioned i'll use it as my monitor if i'm not using a stack.

you should try it. you might be amazed at what you hear. just stuff some books under the front to angle it up. doesn't cost nothing.

I tilt my marshall combo up against the wall occasionally
or balance it on an angle with my foot
most of the time I just don't care tho

I mean, I get the intent. When I really tweak pedals and set sounds, I sit down in front of my amp.
Right now, however, it is sitting on top of another 212 cab.
I'm also in the position of using IEMs when I play live, so the amp is always miked offstage.

yeah, that makes sense. i guess i was really wondering about people playing at home from looking at pics of peoples set ups at..home. stage is always a new experience. if i'm playing heavily fuzzed/synthed/oscillating/noise its not so important to me, but when i'm playing cleaner ambient/reverb/delay heavy music i find it makes a huge difference to my overall enjoyment.

Still, if the cab is close mic'd, what you're hearing isn't what's the audience is hearing.
I agree the tilt can make a big difference in the bedroom (TWSS / CHANKS WUZ HERE) but IMH live or for recording, it's unnecessary.
Also, I put my heads directly on top of my cabs so tilting it back isn't an option.

Right, but i leave that up to the soundman
I'm with you on the rest too. I'm often wearing headphone in the studio anyways.

When I play out I just play loud enough that I can monitor myself no problem through my cabs.
I think Syl uses an amp stand though?
When I use my tiny combo it's usually stacked on something to get it closer to my ears, whether it's an extension cab or something else

I play with my combo on top of an old milk crate. this also makes it easier to make adjustments without bending over.

that's smart, no resonance. i'm trying to find a good solution for a blues deluxe/twin amp sized combo to get it up at ear level. not on top of a cab, and not resonant.

I'm almost always playing at home in my room, both off my amps are pretty fucking loud in there, so that extra high end aimed at my ears is undesirable. In a live situation it's nice to have my amp pointed at my ears if I don't have a monitor.
