Grab and go!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Could you guys suggest me a good small/moderate grab and go combo amps, here's the catch and trick.. huge headroom! I know that's a rare combination, but let's find out!

Short story, I have a great Swart SST30 head (30 watts) paired with the 2x12 emperor cab.. which is a hassle to carry out fo a simple practice. And I ended up using the Vox Pathfinder (15w solidstate) more for every activities cos it's light, simple and awesome enough to cover my needs in my not-too-loud garage band. But lately I found the need to have an extra headroom, cos I feel like the pathfinder has reach its volume limit and kinda shrill when I push that tiny 8" with fuzzes sometimes. It's one true great solidstate amp for sure, I just want something louder.

I know they said tube amps are louder than SS even at the same wattage, but I'm not really sure about my options here, so far I've been looking at the excelsior and princeton, but I don't know if they could give me a loud clean before they start to break up. I've tried the Blues Jr, but they're just too boxy sounding. Is there anything over 15 watts at smaller form amp? And btw, has anyone tried the newer Ampeg GVT series, are they any good or plain crappy?

You could try out an 80's peavey bass combo. I have a TKO 65 and it's loud and clean. I also love the sound of guitar through it. If you come across one I definitely recommend trying it out. They are cheap and loud.

Do the LED mod in the Pathfinder if you haven't already. Opens up a lot of volume and headroom, and it only costs a little time.

If tubes aren't necessary, I think you would be happy with a Jazz Chorus 50 or Roland Cube?

Yeah, I'm thinking solidstate as well, a ZT Lunchbox maybe, or one of these old Sessionette's?

I use a Laney cub 12r and couldn't recommend it more highly. It's way loud for 15w, weighs about 25 pounds, has good headroom and it can definitely keep up with a drummer (as long as he isn't super energetic).

I used to use a at lunch box for this, but in comparison with other amps it feels like it's lacking detail in the sound. Like someone glossed over sound and smoothed it out a little.it's a great amp for grab and go purposes because it's super loud and sounds surprisingly good. I wish I still had it sometimes, because it is crazy portable....

I like the Egnater Tweaker 15.
I had the head and cab but the combo would probably be better for what you want.

Also, if you can find a Sovtek Midget 50 those things are super loud and smaller than most 15 watt amps.

Here's one: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Sovtek-Mig-50-M ... 3a868e04f3

I agree with the Champ XD comment. Tehe onboard effects are completely usrable as well. I was blown away when I heard a guy playing through it.
