Hi all

This is my first time posting here so apologies if i've posted this in the wrong place or if I say anything stupid. I'm looking for a pedal that can closely replicate the sound of a trumpet. Finding a trumpet player is proving to be a little trickier than initially anticipated. I managed to find a Mellowtone Trumpet Fuzz online but was told they stopped making this about a year ago. I was directed here as someone may be selling one on here? If anyone does have this pedal, would you consider selling it? Or if anyone has any other suggestions, I will be really grateful.

p.s. I also looked into a Paul Trombetta pedal but it can take a few months for the pedal to be made and shipped.

To me, the characteristic thing about a trumpet is the volume enveloping. I'd try playing guitar through a light overdrive and use a volume pedal to taper the volume in and out with your guitar phrasing.

This. No pedal will get you close to a trumpet sound if you don't imitate the amplitude envelope of a trumpet note at the same time.

I've had pretty cool results with a volume pedal and a Boss FZ-2. You could also try a slow gear-type pedal like the VFE bumblebee for faster playing paired with an overdrive or fuzz (i think gated ones work best)

These guys are right. Phrasing has a lot to do with sounding like a trumpet. Thinking like a trumpet player also helps.

No idea what the production status of this is, but Shoe has a fuzz that's supposed to sound like a horn:

Maestro designed a pedal back in the early 70s to make your guitar sound like a brass instrument, the Brassmaster

Maleeko makes a clone the Assmaster. You might want to look into it, interesting octave up fuzz with blend.

May not look as great as it sounds, but that's why we've got DanUU, LaoWiz, jwarcane, et al.

to my ears that's the only fuzz with which I kind of understand what the "trumpet sound" means

Let me think, I don't have the Fuzz Stang MKII at hand because I only tried it at a shop once, the attack (which is basically a bias control I believe) was set somewhere around the middle I think (sound dies out pretty quickly on this fuzz, especially when you use it with low output singlecoils), the fuzz was probably at full blast and I remember it sounding quite brash and bright so I tamed down the tone quite a bit (about 1/4 up I'd say), on a Strat neck pickup.
That said the Greenhouse Effects Remedy Fuzz I tested at the same time was even better at this trumpet sound, a bit woofier I guess and it had a special quality to it the Fuzz Stang MKII didn't have, though the latter one was definitely more versatile in my opinion.

From my experience some trumpet/sax style fuzz pedals sound a bit synthesized while others have a more natural sound to them, the more natural ones are usually quite simple fuzz pedals that just have that special sound quality to them (usually especially when run full blast on the fuzz) or pedals with a bias control that makes them cover that certain ground.
By the way, you might already know this but sometimes it helps to roll down the tone control on your guitar as well if you're trying to get these type of sounds (I almost never do that though).
The Shoe Spit Valve really also seems to have this special kind of quality to it judging from the clips and videos but unfortunately I haven't tried that one yet, so far from all the fuzzes I tried the Apocalypse, Remedy and Terra were the most convincing ones for that trumpet like sound to me.
