Can anyone recommend someone/place that can repair mass produced gear?

My Zoom Ultra Fuzz has gone from mildly problematic to DOA. =(

You need someone who's happy working on surface mounted components for that pedal. Maybe find someone who's also interested in tracing it, since there doesn't seem to be a schematic out there. In addition to our DIY section, you might try at diystompboxes.com and freestompboxes.org.

What problems was it having before it shit the bed?

I'm only just now getting back into playing after a sizable hiatus, so most of my gear had been lying fallow for awhile. When I pulled the Zoom out of storage a few weeks back, everything worked as it should - except for the LED. Tried to use it this week, no joy - not passing a signal, tried multiple power supplies, batteries, and battery eliminators - bupkis.

Filled out the RMA form on the Zoom/Samson website, curious to see if they respond, have the means to fix it, or what it would cost.

Hadn't thought about the DIY forum or any of the building forums. That's a good thought.

for gear that was stored for a while, sometimes spiders crawl in and make egg nests. turn on unit and... zap.

Had already taken the back panel off - although haven't gone so far as to remove the board. No spiders, zombies, ghosts, or obviously burnt out traces or solder points.
