So I have acquired a device that upon first test doesn't work. I quickly noticed that the plug is a three prong style but there is no round ground plug.
It looks like it broke off but not clean at the edge of the rubber on the plug so there is a bit of a whole.
Wat do?

It sounds like there's something wrong with your device though? Even without an earth things will normally still work. The earth is usually just connected to any exposed metal so you don't zap yourself if a hot wire comes loose and in contact with it. In saying that the manufacturer could be doing something weird... but either way you should get that plug replaced and see. (It's sounds like it's beyond any fix it's easiest just to replace the plug.)
Any electrician/service store should be able to do the job for a few bucks.
