So I have these guys

and this guy

totally new to samplers/drum machines
my question is... is it possible to run my guitar through all my pedals and run the sampler into the DL4 only, but not have the samples/drum sounds come out of my guitar amp?
is this dumb question?
i've no idea.

As long as you run the output of the sampler to a separate amplification source (PA or somethin) yeah that should be fine.

^ I think he means using the guitar AND sampler with the DL4 though, no?

the DL4 is supposed to be 'true stereo' but if you're planning to use the loop sampler mode then it sums the signal to mono, so you can split the output to two sources but each output will have the same content, ie you won't be able to have looped samples going to one source and looped guitar to another, if you loop samples they WILL go into your guitar amp.

if you're using it for delay then I'm reasonably certain that you can set it up so that the guitar input goes to one output and the sampler input goes to another, so you can have the delayed samples only going to a different amp.

i hope that helped.

ah thats what i was afraid of
i've been messing a lot with looping and thought it would be cool to loop some drum sounds over it.
i have the M9 i can use as a seperate looper, it can just be a little nerve wracking to line up 2 separate loops together.

ahh yeah. If you want to do that you'd need a stereo looper. I think the Jamman stereo and EHX 45000 can do that maybe?

i do need to check out the jamman, i'm just so attached to the DL4

on a similar note, how much damage would playing the drum machine through my amp do?

I think it depends on how loud the amp is turned up.

I wouldn't play a drum machine loudly through any amp I really care about though.

DL4 is awesome, playing samples through the the looper and reversing/retriggering them would be fun as hell.

if you're using really deep kick drum samples and the speakers are rated for guitar I wouldn't be playing at loud volumes, could potentially harm the speakers. Maybe someone else who's tried can chime in though.

stuff like that you would normally run as a separate setup into a DI if you're playing gigs. With a PA it's gonna sound clearer and you won't have to worry about blowing speakers.

I've run a drum machine loudly through a bass amp, but never guitar. Wouldn't sound that great through guitar speakers IMO.

^YEA, doesn't sound that great thru a guitar amp. i dunno if you'd really damage it tho. unless the shit was jacked way up and your sampler was too. but you'd just be pushing it way to hard. if you play at volumes your amp can handle, i dont think you'd do any harm.

i'm looking for a looper that will allow me to record two different layered loops that i can then switch between with a footswitch. ideally both loops would have their own foot switches.

Boss RC-3 is a true-stereo looper.

Picked up an RC-30 recently and have been enjoying it quite a bit. Stereo in/out, two separate loops, effects for loops, decent sounding rhythm, 3hrs record, etc.

I completely forgot about the boss looper pedals.
I just wish they had the halftime mode on the loops like the DL4
