i know the big boxes have a bad rep, but mf has been ok by me. i recently bought one of the japanese jaguar thinlines they were blowing out for $899. when i unpacked it, it looked used--scuffs, scratches. the boxes were sealed, so it must have come that way from japan. mf accepted the return, paid the shipping, and fully credited my account. i've had nothing but good experiences with them.

That's awesome. Musicians Friend has always been good with me as well. Fast shipping, usually ridiculously awesome packaging to keep stuff safe. I bought my VM Jazzmaster from them last year and they were running a promotion for X amount off which they excluded the VM Series from because it was new, but they gave it to me anyway. I've got zero complaints about them!

So, they're living up to their name, eh?

Bought my Firebird 70's Tribute from them, and they hooked me up with a great price match. Good folks over there in my book.

got a new interface thru them recently, had been a long time since i've ordered anything from them.

they hooked me up w/ a 10% off coupon even tho their fall sale was over :)

but the cable i bought was definately an already opened type deal. it still works fine, but makes me weary of buying "new" when it obviously was not
oh well

When it comes to corporation-owned mass market gear, I'll buy from em if it's a good deal. I always attempt to go through a smaller shop, but sometimes you gotta go MF. :idk: Never had them screw me in any way.

I've always had good times with MF. Order most mass market stuff from there.
Every time I've had an item excluded from a sale, they've created a coupon code for me to bypass it.

I always try to go with Sweetwater when possible, but MF always does right by me otherwise. Seems a bit more trustworthy to me than guitar center for some reason, probably because they don't have obnoxious musicians playing on their gear in stores.

Never had a problem on the 5 items I've bought from them.

Unfortunately they are Guitar Center.

Musician's Friend has been mostly good for me. I have spent a couple thousand dollars with them over the last five years or so, and haven't had any major problems that I could attribute to MF. And that includes a MIM Strat, a Squier Cyclone, Tele, and Jazzmaster. I only had one return/replacment (the Jazzmaster), and that was handled smoothly, and without cost to me.

They do have a problem correcting incorrect descriptions, and replacing incorrect photos. For example, there is a strap that they sell that I really like. They are cheap and nice, and I own a bunch of them. At some point, the manufacturer significantly changed the item-- from two layers of double-reinforced leather to 1 layer of non-reinforced leather. The straps they sell are now junk. My two reviews of the item are listed as the most helpful positive review, and the most helpful negative review. I told MF about it over a year ago. They still haven't changed the pictures or description. It's a scam, and they know it. That's why they nearly doubled the price.

As an aside, to all the folks who don't like Guitar Center, try living where there isn't one. 115 miles to Charleston, 145 miles to Jacksonville, 258 miles to Atlanta. In my city, we have two guitar stores. One has a reputation for being shady, and the other seems more interested in renting instruments to school bands than selling guitars. Both have terrible prices, service, and support. I would love to have a GC here, even if it meant the other two shops were put out of business. I think one is coming, too-- they have been advertising here for 2 years, which is exactly what Kohls did before they came to town.

They just gave me the Colombus Day 15% off on a Squier Bass VI and a Rainbow Machine, so I'm a fan.

I would go with Sweetwater, but they will not give me their credit card. I always pay my bills on time, so fuck'm :surprise: I guess MF and GC will get my business when I'm ready to start snagging Moogerfoogers.
