4x12's Bass!

I just got an SWR 4x12 bass cab. Holy Fuck!!!!! Why are there way more 4x10 cabs than 4x12 cabs in the bass world? Also, why is it so common for guitarists to have 4x12's while bass players are rocking 4x10's.
I don't get it

My Aguilar GS412 smokes my Eden 410 I had, and sounds way more defined then my peavey 215 (for obvious reasons) but DUDE. I'll never go back.

I always understood that the Marshall 4x12s were originally designed with bass in mind. Townsend noticed that Entwistle was suddenly louder and wanted what he was having and the rest was history.
The 4x10 thing I largely understood as a modern trend for a moderately compact bass rig, going for a halved down version of the SVT 8x10 cab with higher powered speakers and a tweeter for high-end. If it isn't because it's half of an SVT, I don't know why that got settled on.

My Kustom 2x15 sounds great with an SWR 1x18, plenty of highs to go with the mids and lows. But yeah, the 4x12 and 1x18 is even better! No loss of lows/mids, more clarity in the upper registers, and it sounds just a smidgen louder
That story about The Who makes total sense! Its like how the Boss PS-3 jumped in price after Incubus talked about it in an interview. I hate Incubus's music and the fact that they made a used pedal hold its new price value, Fuck you!!!!!!! The PS-3 is not the only pitchshifting delay that's badass.
Oh yes, and horns. Are horns usually noisy as fuck? I'd like to tear it out of my 2x15, but then I'll have an unwanted hole in the cab. The speakers do a fine job at producing the highs.

Fuck, I've been wanting to play 12's on bass for a few years now. Ideally, I'd love a well built sealed 6x12.

Oh, yes!
This thing can punch holes in concrete. I only wish it didn't weigh 75 kilos.

This is my favorite cab. It's a GK 4412H 4x12's in folded horn config and 2 forward facing 10's. It slays on bass or guitar.

Josh Newton's setups with Every Time I Die got me real jazzed on 4x12s for bass.
Really want an offset 4x12 cab, I just don't want to carry it.

I've only ever used 15s. I wanna know what 12s are like.

Played through an Ampeg 4x12 in tandem with with my 2x15 for a minute. Was cool.
12's are cool, but I don't find that they tend to go for what I go for, tone wise (which is, of course, a sweeping generalization about speaker size and not paying attention to a billion other factors dur dur dur).
