I traded in my rarely used Harmony flat top for this gorgeous Harmony arch top:


It's a Harmony Monterey, still trying to figure out the year.

I liked my flat top, but I'm not really into acoustics all that much and this guitar has been staring me down for months at the shop I sometimes help out at. I'm planning on getting a dearmond pickup for the neck position in a while when I actually have money to spend.

Gonna get my Grizzly Bear on.

ok! after a little research, i have discovered that this is a Harmony Monterey from the "Archtone" series. the serial number and date stamp indicate Fall of 1965.

We have the same guitar, but yours is half a year older. I don't play it very often anymore but it's really endearing for some reason.

You got the sweet pickguard though. My old post says the date is "pre-summer 1965" after all. "$20 or best offer" is written on the case
I tried attaching one of GFS's archtop pickups to the neck when I got it, but it was way too tall. The bridge is busted up on mine and I gotta do something about the action, it's super high...but still a great sound. Smells good too.

damn dude, twins! the only H1213 ive ever seen is the one i now own, so thats kinda crazy.

my friend was thinking an old dearmond or something similar. im hoping to find a p90 or similar that i could just screw to the top. im already gonna put a whole on the bottom side for a jack and a hole on the top for a volume knob anyway!

Harmony literally made a ton o' these. They're not that uncommon.

Yeah, I think you'd have to cut into the top to mount a P90.

I've seen a bunch of the later stuff.
