Cheap 1x12?

So in a mere week I will be moving out and going into an apartment and the place is definitely on the small side and I would like to get a 1x12 to save space and for the sake of being a bit more quiet but I need to handle at least 60 watts and possibly cheaper than 300, any cheaper than 200 would be ideal. Obviously we are talking used prices.

I've seen some mesa ones, and some other random brands here and there but let me know! Maybe how much would it cost to build a cab?

There is a guy that's pretty local to me (lives about a half hour away) that seems to specialize in 1x12's and 2x12's.

http://bcustomcabs.com/

I've got a 1x12 from him that is solid as hell, and his prices are really decent. He's flexible on sizes and stuff too, mine is a convertable back and a little oversized. Right now it is sealed and has a Eminence Delta 12LFC 400w bass driver in it that I'm running a Sovtek Mig 50h through. Totally slays!

Yeah those custom cabs seem ideal since its cheap and doesn't look as gaudy as having some ugly cheap tolex 1x12. I could bring my 4x12 but I k ow in the end Iwould only play at 1

A 1x12 cabinet in an apartment is potentially louder than fuck. You can get evicted with 5 watts. You can force your roommates to walk out, with 5 watts. If you're trying to be quiet in this apartment (for example only playing your guitar at "stereo system" levels, not whisper quiet but not jam session loud, a 12 inch speaker is a big-ass speaker for this purpose. I'm not saying you can't do it, you totally can, but your amp is gonna be on "1".

Look for a used Avatar cabinet. That's what I bought, but I never use it in my apartment, because I don't want the neighbors to hear me practice (with an Epiphone Valve Jr. head). But what about a Vox Pathfinder or a Peavey Bandit (etc?) Small combo amp that is dedicated to home practice. At low levels, "tone" is irrelevant. I think the used Pathfinders are 100 bucks.

It's like there is a gap in the middle category where amps are useless (to me anyway)... for band situations, the amps almost can't be too loud. And for home situations, the amps almost can't be too quiet. The whole category in between, I see no practical use for

if youre after some speaker breakup/crunch (in addition to your amp)
look for a inefficient (vs efficient) speaker...
and try to find one that isnt a cheap piece of shit
good luck

I don't know I've never had any issue with playing at 1 in a really small room, hell even the pathfinder I currently own that I use for a synths sounds kinda bad if I don't crank it just a tiny bit and even then it can get too loud. I honestly don't mind playing anything on 1 at home and my roommate is a Musician also so we are so both trying to find ways to jam in the living room.

I actually dislike how my pathfinder sounds for guitar and just use it for synths. In the end I wold get a small tube combo if money wasn't an issue. Land lady isn't a bitch so she isn't going to kill me for some level of noise.

The Jet City's OEM Eminence is supposed to be pretty close to the V12-8/16. Interesting that they picked changes that made it sound better in their cab, huh? Def go with their full-sized 1x12 instead of the boxy little compact one if you can.

Crate had a cab called the GT 112SL that they sold with the Powerblock heads. Cabinet itself is supposed to be decent mediocre, but the stock speaker is a Celestion G12K-100, which is nice for a clean-ish speaker with full, strong bass. They got blown out cheap and you can often find them used for under $100.

I found myself a used custom made Thiele cab with a practically untouched EVM-12L for under $150 shipped a few years back. I've seen similar come up on the 'bay and CL from time to time for similar. Sounds great quiet to loud. Heavier than a lot of 2x12s.

Yeah, dude definitely knows what he's doing! He hasn't been doing it very long either but his quality is great. I've been really happy with my cab since I bought it in December!
