How can I get that tone? It can't be fuzz because its way to tight, punchy and focused.

Steve uses mxr shit. Most of his tone is in his amp. Also he tunes way the fuck down.

Also, they use a 'bomb string' for those ultra low notes. It's a bass string tuned to no specific note, just really floppy (I think I read he uses a .070 string for that somewhere). The other strings are Aadgb if I remember correctly.
