Not sure if these have been discussed before but I just noticed them on Fenders site.

No trems and those Jazzmaster single coils are actually humbuckers :|

Would have been awesome if Fender just made a lower cost AVRI alternative with a modern 9.5" jumbo fret neck, le sigh. Also is this the first Fender Mustang made in the US since the originals were discontinued?

finally a hardtail jazzmaster that i would jump on. but humbuckers and a 9.5 radius kills the deal for me. oh well.

Do not want. Do want the two best Fender Vibrato systems on their native guitars.

I'm hoping Mustangs being manufactured in the US will finally lead to a proper Fender USA Mustang reissue down the line.

Yes, though it does match with the zebras.

That's what I'm hoping for too Maybe these American Specials are a precursor to American Standard Jazzmasters, Jags and Mustangs. Something priced between the Squier VMs and the stupid expensive AV '65s but with proper specs.

I like the JM....except for the toggle placement, pickups, and lack of a trem

I didn't even notice the switch placement, at first glance. Dumb move.
I'd be super into an otherwise stock hardtail JM.
