caught a midnight showing. not sure what i liked more: the movie itself (which rocked!) or the fact that the guy sitting directly behind me (who hadn't read it, having admitted to another patron that he 'just thought it looked bad ass when the dark night came out,') was totally uncomfortable with the big blue wang on screen. by the end of the movie he actually sighed disgustedly and said 'cover that shit up!' i lol-ed quietly.

I haven't read it either and I'm gonna go see the movie first just for spite.

I can't say I'm jacked up about seeing a giant blue wang, but it's cool that it's tru to the comic..er..I guess. I was really hoping WATCHMEN would be good. I didn't want another Skycaptain.

i think this movie has the potential to make a lot of people put serious thought into why they are uncomfortable seeing wang. personally, i've got one, i see it every day, so this didn't bother me in the slightest. mine isn't blue, which explains why it isn't on a movie screen, i suppose, but all the same...

Billy crudup was on TDS last night to talk about his blue wang, was pretty funny.
I can't wait to see it...now to convince the GF. She owes me.

and the best thing is you KNOW that the dude behind me (and the countless others that will no doubt take issue) would have had no problem with full frontal nudity if dr m was a woman.

Too true jdavyd. Though it did take me a little while to figure out what you guys meant by a wang.

I thought it was a good movie, not a correct copy of the comic, but still good.
I found some MAJOR plotholes that I must discuss when more people have seen it...

A movie is such a small speck of time. you have to treat it as a separate entity.

devi ever wrote:While parts of the movie were enjoyable, overall I feel it was an incredible disgrace to the true power and complexity of the narrative, and I am now a tru-believer that no Alan Moore story should ever be brought to film again.
I haven't seen it yet because I'm stupidly busy, but I feel Devi has encapsulated my fears quite well. Looking forward to going though when I get the chance. Might just have to forget about the book and try enjoy it for the movie it is

yeah, i'm going to echo the above - you simply can't look for the exact same thing because it's not the same. for being a movie made in the year 2009 it is as faithful to the original story as you can get, IMHO.

i just read there was something like 30 more minutes of movie that cut out. i'm sure the director's cut will be worth the cost of the DVD.

Oh yeah, there were people in our audience that were all about the sex scene inside the pod but were kinda uncomfortable with the wang.
My friends spent the time where we were waiting for the movie to start trolling this guy in front of us that was waaay too serious and had a busted sarcasm detector. They had the guy convinced that they thought the comic was a cheap money grab that was made very recently to tie in with the movie.
I thought the movie was ok. They did a good job with some of the stuff and a not so good job with some other stuff. It's about what I expected, not a masterpiece but a decent enough adaptation that loses a lot of it's meaning from being crammed into movie time.

I heard there's going to be a dvd that's all that stuff and the black ship video they have coming out edited into what was put out in theaters.

And I'm sure his "wang" was more pretty than the features in Walk Hard and Harold and Kumor Escape from Guantanamo Bay.

what.....wangs can be....pretty? Assuming its blue like you said....right?

I thought as far as superhero movies go it was amazing. No other comic movie except Dark Knight can touch it and that's just because of Ledger's performance (I do NOT like Christian Bale as Batman). However having said that, compared to the comic it was a piece of crap.
