I'm absolutely in love with the body of this guitar -
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=370167563381I can't find any info on it online, though. According to the seller it's a Maestro B55, but when I google that all I get are links to trombones.
The seller's got decent feedback, and appears to address any issues, so should I get this thing?

well, the price is low, the look is great ... I would buy it!
NOW!
If the sound is crappy, you can always change the pick ups ...

something about that guitar screams home made to me, which would explain why you can't find anything on google, but like the man said, it looks good and the price is right.

That is the most ridonkulous thing I have seen in quite a while. Needless to say, I support you purchasing it 100%!!
And if you don't buy it, let us know - this thing needs to be owned by someone who appreciates it...

Looks sketchy to me...reverse explorer copy with some fender parts?
As far as I know maestro isn't a guitar brand...they make vibrolas they put in high end gibsons sometimes (like a bigsby)
I mean its not a lot of money...but still...

yea but it makes you wonder...what kinda actives?
A pair of blackouts or 81/85's are most of the cost of that guitar already...has to be something else...which isn't a good thing as far as actives go.

Maestro makes really super cheap guitars, or rather somebody else makes them and they get branded Maestro probably. Sort of like the Starcasters that Fender has at Target or Best Buy type things. Those pop up on ebay a bunch too.

I'd love to get it, now, but I'm still awaiting my tax return. And, I've never liked actives, so I'll probably change 'em out for SD Distortions.

I thought that at first, but I've seen a lot of the other guitars in his store online or in actual shops under different brands, so I'm not sure. Seller said it's made in Korea.

It's quite ridonkulous, but I love it... It's almost as if Elroy Jetson had designed the Jazzmaster.
As far as actives go, I'm not too interested in those, as I always change out whatever pickups come in any given guitar to either SD Distortions or Invaders.
I just can't help but think that this guitar was meant for me - it's as offset as a Jazzmaster ( I grew up on grunge, offsets are really the only guitars I find comfortable or the least bit attractive) and has the metal-ness of an Explorer, with a sort of retro glimpse at the future of guitar, though the headstock's a bit strange... Come to think of it, I've seen that headstock before, I just can't place it. Now, I just have to hope my tax return comes today, or he re-lists it.

I really couldn't buy a guitar I couldn't play. Really, it could be made of crappy wood. Maple for the body just is wrong. I don't mean to be a downer, but you could find a more solid guitar at thins proce point from Rondo Music. You'd also have a more reliable source.
Explorers ain't supposed to be maple.

I'm pretty much the same- I can't play it, I won't buy it. But, I'm loving the body shape. IT actually doesn't even look like maple, it looks more like mahogany.
Why would recommending Rondo be a downer? Kurt sells great stuff. I was actually going between this, a hardtail/ HH SJM and a Zeke.
