Not sure I don't tink it's ring mod... maybe very fast delay?

maybe they stuck something like a metal rod under the strings?
or used a flange at high speed as a comb filter

I could do that with a slapback echo with a very fast LFO on my Moog. Makes it repeat but sound sort of ringmoddish.

Sounds to me like they sampled the guitar part and added some effects to it with whatever they sampled it with.

Thanks for all of the suggestions.
I wasn't even considering a delay at all, but that definitely could be it.
Time to go experiment some more
