School me on the different power supplies...

So I've been a life long 1Spot user, and it's never let me down. I've never experienced any of the noise or buzz issues I hear some people talk about. I use one 1spot for my whole board, both out front and in the loop. But I'm starting to look at it, and the more I gig with it, the more worried I get about the relatively flimsy cable it comes with. This has lead me to the conclusion that I'm in the market for a proper power supply.

Heres a quick break down of my board as it stands now;

Pitchblack---EHX Octave Multiplexer XO---- Bad Horsie Wah---- Phase 90--- Musket Fuzz---- Low input of my Laney AOR 50.

Loop is; Boss RV-3--- Boss CE-2 ---- Ibanez DE7---- Return

I plan to add two pedals in the near future, one being my Trem clone (made from the GGG Kit) and a Digitech Jamman Solo XT Looper (the new, cheap one).

The two power supplies that caught my eye were the Voodoo Labs ISO 5 and the Voodoo Labs PP2. I know that I can daisy chain off of the ouputs on these, so my lower draw pedals should be fine running off one of the outputs of either one. The thing is, the ISO5 has an 18V output, while the PP2 does not. That 18v might come in handy, because I still tend to use my OCD on occasion....

Any thoughts/input on which supply might be the better choice? I don't really need the L6 outs on the PP2, and the 18V is a nice feature of the ISO5.

Whaddya guys think? I'd prefer to be able to order from Sweetwater, so if they sell it, feel free to recommend other supplies as well.

Thanks!

VL makes nice stuff, very reliable, but I'd skip the ISO 5 and get a PP2+ so you have some room to grow. Who knows what needs you may have with future pedals. If you plan to daisy chain, you'll be eliminating isolation on that out which may introduce noise, all depends. You'd have outs to spare that way tho, could get the 18V you need by adding a simple voltage doubler cable. They have current doublers as well if that situation comes up. The courtesy AC outlet is a nice touch too, use mine to string multiple supplies together.

CIOKS makes the best stuff IMO but prices def reflect that. More variety and current availability on something like a DC10 but if you're not running Strymon or Eventide stuff you'll be fine.

The T-Rex stuff is decent too with good prices. I had some issues with a Chameleon tho, ended up returning that one.

Oh, and keep in mind that although the PP2+ and DC10 have 10 outs, they're situated into only 8 isolated sections so you're really working with a total of 8 outs.

+1 on the Cioks being the absolute best of the best, but a lot of people find them pricey for a power supply. I have two AC10s and love them to death. The way I look at it is they cost about the same as a nice pedal, and that seems reasonable to power a whole board worth of stuff, some of which has wacky requirements. The PP2+ works for most people, as long as you don't have pedals that need weird supplies.

Thanks for the insight guys. I'll have to check out the Cioks stuff, ,but yeah, ,initially the price is turning me off.

I do fine with a PP2+ and a GigRig Distributor to power these (apart from the Rang and KP which run off their own power supply), I even use the PP's courtesy outlet to power the Space ;)
