Teiscos: Why isn't someone copying those designs?

All I ever hear about Teisco guitars/basses is how terrible they are, but I gotta say, they're gorgeous. Why isn't someone pulling an Eastwood and copying the shapes of the old Teisco guitars but with better woods/electronics? I'm sure there's a market out there. I was eyeing a Del Rey bass but I don't need to clutter up my place with useless instruments just because they're pretty.

GOOD. POINT.
For real, that's a good-ass question.

This is a great question.
I've actually loved (almost) every Teisco I've played. I wouldn't give up my EP8T for anything.
It's due time these designs were resurrected!

They took that sexy body shape and made it look like shit. Why eliminate that fancy German carve? Damn you Schecter.
I'm not even gonna start on those finishes.

I don't want them modernized, though. That's part of the charm is the kooky "futuristic" look. I can't tell you how often I'm looking through ebay and fall in love with the shape of a guitar only to find it's a Teisco.

But dude look how well the silver back matches with the washed out fiesta red top and different red flag with yellow and white.

Yeah, Schecter really nailed that finish.

Companies like Eastwood don't really modernize the lines they resurrect, kooky looks are generally retained. They just make them available again.
That said, I've read many a complaint about Eastwood 's level of build quality.

Man that's a cool guitar (not the schecter), I never realised the Hanson Firenza II had such an obvious inspiration. I always figured the guy just wanted to make a jazzmaster type thang.
The original Firenza even had the same 4x2 headstock design. I wish they had kept it.

rockett Tone Guitars in Detroit could probably make you something rad that resembles a Teisco. I played a show with him recently, he was a nice duder.

I've been after an et440 for years. I love the look of teisco and would totally support a new company doing their design style. Shame it will probably never happen though :/
