Duo Sonic rescue project

I'm picking up a classic vibe Duo Sonic project because I wanted a cheap yet still decent guitar that I'd be comfortable leaving in a dorm room. Described by the seller as "the saddest duo sonic in the world," it looks like it went through a couple bad refin jobs, and halfway through the last attempt they just gave up:

I'm thinking a spray paint refinish, maybe plus sharpie art in Dirge style or a text pattern like those Supreme "fuck" jackets. I found some white primer & spray paint in my basement that I think will work nicely. It's a gloss enamel, which seems to be the opposite of what every rattle can guide says I should use, but I tested it on some scrap wood and it seems fine after sitting outside for day. Anyone ever done an enamel spray job?
I'm a little tempted to leave it as is to make it as unappealing and theft-proof as possible, but then it might just look like the lamest relic job ever.
