Duo Sonic rescue project

I'm picking up a classic vibe Duo Sonic project because I wanted a cheap yet still decent guitar that I'd be comfortable leaving in a dorm room. Described by the seller as "the saddest duo sonic in the world," it looks like it went through a couple bad refin jobs, and halfway through the last attempt they just gave up:

I'm thinking a spray paint refinish, maybe plus sharpie art in Dirge style or a text pattern like those Supreme "fuck" jackets. I found some white primer & spray paint in my basement that I think will work nicely. It's a gloss enamel, which seems to be the opposite of what every rattle can guide says I should use, but I tested it on some scrap wood and it seems fine after sitting outside for day. Anyone ever done an enamel spray job? :idk:

I'm a little tempted to leave it as is to make it as unappealing and theft-proof as possible, but then it might just look like the lamest relic job ever.

Natural wood with oil and that gold guard and those cream pickups would look goooooooooood.

I thought about that, but I feel like squiers won't have the nicest looking wood underneath.

Given that this option requires the least effort, I might just do it. Gotta see how icky the current finish feels, though.

Either way, I'll add in some piezo transducers that I've got hanging around for some different toanz. Will post updates, like, eventually.

Not sure what the spots are, I took it as a partial trade on my Timmy today so I won't actually have it until next week. I think what happened is that there was a top layer of metallic gold paint (you can kinda see it still intact on the horns and the bottom body edge in that pic), it took a few dents, and then those dents were deeper than the last sanding attempt.

If it's not too gross, leave it as is and have dorm mates and random passers-by sharpie it.
