Maybe new generations are "spoiled" by the new technological stuff but... progress does not make you unhappy. Progress stimulates me and encourages me and it actually makes me happy, because i can see that living long will be worth it.
Check this and think what we will be able to do in .. lets say 5-7 years:

This guy's really funny. He makes a lot of good points and all this technology is really tenuous. If you think about all that has to occur for a simple cell phone call to take place, it's pretty amazing that they happen at all. Towers, relays, personnel, repairs, satellites in some cases, not to mention good, clean, reliable AC power and the ability to transform and amplify it, and all it takes to produce said power in the first place...
I know we've built a lot of this up over time, but it's like we're living in a mansion of toothpicks, waiting for some little snot nosed brat to kick it over.
