Embedding, attachments and stuff

Hey everyone

So I realized that although this is embarrassing, I don't know how to embed YouTube and soundcloud and moving picture thingy's. It would be cool to have maybe a "how-to thread" with everything involving posting :joy:

If there is something like this, I am blind

Thanks!

so, it's all about the tags. you can highlight stuff in the full editor and click IMG or YOUTUBE, or just do tags manually.

if you have a link to an image, like go to google, find an image (moving gif or static jpg/bmp/png), right click it and click "Copy Link Address" that would be an IMG url.

the layout is [IMG], then you insert your url, then you finish with the [] tags, but you put /IMG inside.

the / is kind of like End Tag Here.

same for YouTube/SoundCloud. YouTube is a little funky where anything that follows a ? is data that messes up the tags, so erase everything after a second question mark.

so if you were doing a YouTube link, this wouldn't work -

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uUmNmpGn ... BMq0hiff9w

but this would -

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uUmNmpGnKp4

like so -

i put the YOUTUBE then /YOUTUBE tag around each of those url's in the [ ] brackets.

you can also upload images from your computer. scroll to the bottom of the Full Editor and select the Upload Attachment tab. Click the Choose File button and navigate to the location of the file on your computer. then select the file and click the Choose button at the bottom of the pop-up window; the filename will appear in the Filename field on the Full Editor page. click the Add The File button and the file will upload to the ILF server and the filename will appear in a new field labelled Posted Attachments. to place the file at a selected point in posted text, park your cursor at the chosen point and click the Place Inline button. to delete the file, click the Delete File button. click Preview at the bottom of the window if you want to check the file placement, then click Submit, and the photo

will appear in your post at the point you selected. you can add a comment using the File Comment field under Posted Attachments.
this is the comment text typed in the File Comment field.

on facebook if you put up a youtube link it'll usually show an embed link in that post.

Ry's Guys - they used to let you hold on an image and click "open in new window", the. you could copy that url. it only works sometimes now though. it's a bitch to do the img url trick on a 'phone/'pad. random when it works.

i too, have a bloated Photobucket 'cause they changed it. Appleholes.

What about posting a long URL but making the link text something else. Like, in HTML I'd do it like this:

<a href="http://www.ilovefuzz.com">EAT FUZZ</a>

And you wouldn't see the link you'd just see "EAT FUZZ".
I know you can do it but I never remember how.

i think it's something like (ignore the first /) /then what you want it to say here

so this -

https://www.google.com/search?safe=off& ... 4jV5pWJoFk

would end up Turkish Booties FOREVER

oh jia, also, any time you see a post from someone doing a trick you don't know, if you Quote it the page it takes you to will show all their tags and whatnot. 's a good way to see how they do it and learn.

i think that's how i've figured out anything i know how to do?

lol. although doing a bit of programming and shtuff makes the tags and brackets and /'s make more sense.
