So I'm a complete fucking moron when it comes to midi. I just...I don't get what it is or what it does. LOL...seriously. I've been looking at the Musicman Game Changer lately because I've been fucking gasing for that motherfucker since it was announced. I noticed it has midi control on it. What would that bring to the table on a bass or a guitar? What does it allow me to do? Seriously. So ignorant with this shit. Trying to understand here.

you would be able to use it with any midi compatible device probably intended for live use. You could also go directly into your computer via midi and not need an interface.

I wouldn't even know where to begin on something like that. I'm going to watch this thread just to figure out what the fuck is going on!

Midi stands for "Musical Instrument Digital Interface" and was created in the 80's partially by Dave Smith to help all the new Digital Instruments like Keyboards and Drum Machines and Sequencers from different manufactures to be able to communicate... The Bass you are looking at has a MIDI out in order to trigger notes or change programs on external MIDI equipped items like a Keyboard (Minitaur) or an Effects processor (Timeline)... MIDI is a computer code that sends on/off or note value or commands like start or stop...
What are you confused about???

What the fuck is going on with the Game Changer and how someone would even use it?
I get what MIDI is, but that bass looks confusing.

Game Changer is Music Mans name for their Pickup Switching System... You can mix and match Pickup Phase and Polarity and save them as presets... I think you guys are over thinking this...
With the Game Changer Reflex four-string bass guitar, players can unlock their instruments' tonal possibilities with the patent-pending Game Changer pickup switching system. Combining any order of pickup coils in series, parallel, in- or out-of-phase gives you access to the most extensive library of never-before-heard tones.
The MIDI and USB are there to upload presets that other people made, the MIDI can be used as an out to trigger MIDI Keyboards... Doesn't seem that cool to me but whatever...

Just cause I've never used midi, so I don't know anything about it really.
I just wanted to see what the advantages of using a midi enabled bass could be. I know Delta has owned one (damn you for not chiming in!!!!!!)
Probably over thinking like you said. I just was looking for a "this is what it does and why you use it", which you pretty much answered.

MIDI-in that enables editing and also pickup selection via a MIDI controller board
Dude, if the thing had a good built in midi pickup I'd be wanting one right there with you, I love MM, but to me what the thing actually does isn't that interesting other then playing around with it.
now if you were a big rack system user the thing would be BALLZ! You could change your amp setting, effects and pickups in one go

I JUST SAW THIS AND YOU COULD PM ME DINGDONG
I mean that Bubby Lewis video is gay, dude can play but that Roland has some shitty sounds. It really isn't midi either. I had a Peavey Cyber Bass, I miss it. I sold it to help fund my Dinger.
I was playing rack synths with midi bass. AND IT FUCKING FUN SONIDERO
I mean, I do express myself better on bass than keys. Although I can plunk out a melody or chords on keys, it just isn't my flow. I am trying to work on my keys skillz though.
Yeah that GameChanger can't plug into synths and play them or I would have one. You could trigger samples or something with it.

haha, a fella in my band asked me to do some "funky dancey bass stuff" last night, and I started to go for my bass guitar. He was like "no, you can use your synth!" And I was just like "ugh.. no.. I can't.. do...." then i mimed awkwardly playing keys "Not.. fast... or good."
So, a bass guitar that ran a synth would be really cool for me.
