I wipe mine down with a cloth once in a while during string changes, and I put lemon oil on my rosewood board guitars about once a year or so.

i scrub the fretboard with cotton wool dabbed in methylated spirits, and once that dries i apply lemon oil lightly/evenly and let that dry.
I have no idea if its a good method but it works well for me. I do it probably twice a year.

A little lemon oil and 0000 steel wool on rosewood gets rid of the crusties and keeps the wood conditioned.

Sounds like we all do about the same thing. I bought an old Epiphone acoustic off eBay a month or two back and cleaned up the fretboard with 0000 steel wool, boiled linseed oil, and an old toothbrush.
Got the linseed oil at Ace Hardware. According to some other guitar forums, you must make sure to get BOILED linseed oil. Regular linseed oil, which is also known as flaxseed oil, will become rancid after a while and fuck shit up. Apparently.

I think I did the steel wool first, paying close attention to the frets themselves, and GENTLY rubbing the actual wood. Then I got a t-shirt or rag or whatever and just used a TINY TINY bit of the linseed oil, just like a drop of it, and polished the whole fretboard thoroughly. It took me 4 or 5 separate drops of oil to do it. Then I went with the toothbrush and just scrubbed for fine-tuning (no pun intended).
It worked really well. First time I've ever done any kind of fretboard maintenance and it turned out superb.
I'M NO EXPERT.

My parents bought me this stuff as a stocking stuffer for Christmas:

Lighter fluid fixes everything and if it doesn't use a lil more and it can destroy anything...

Beeswax furniture polish yo, shit works wonders.
For skank I just polish hard with a cloth... rough side of a sponge if it's really grim, polishes the frets at the same time which is nice.
