I have an Ibanez ES 339 copy from around this time period, and it is really, really nice. For that money this guitar would be well worth it, I'd say.
A few other variations floating around NY Craigslist:

That red one with the gold pickups is beautiful
Ibanez, what happened to you?

My first guitar was the same as that red one, but a non-tremolo version.
The volume pots pulled to split the humbuckers, the guitar had a nice weight and felt very solid. I was a stupid teenager and traded it in for a kramer focus 2000, I wish I still had it. Once in a while I look for an early 80's Ibanez Musician, but they all seem to be around 800+. More than I want to spend, and I have enough guitars.

i loooove ibanez guitars from that era. i have an 81 artist ar50. it quickly became my favorite guitar i've ever owned. the build quality and the wood they used is incredible. the prices have been going up, but i still think it's one of the best guitar values out there. i got mine for so cheap, $415, and i'd take it over most guitars that cost three times as much as i paid for it.
