Well, a huge portion of the pedals available are clones, though generally a little modded. There are more Tubescreamer variants than anyone would want to count.

This is a wide open question.
Is the version pedal still being made by the original company? Which company is it? What kind of pedal is it? Are we talking all clones (as in Superfuzz and Big Muff= Clone) or like a Klone situation?

I'd buy clones. You fucking know I'd buy clones.

If the price of the currently version, used or new, is stupidly overpriced then maybe. If someone was selling RE-201 clones for $200 I would be so down.

Depends very much on what it is a clone of. Would I buy a clone of an in production Dr. Scientist or Mid-Fi pedal? Absolutely not. Would I buy a clone of a Superfuzz or a Boss VB-2? For sure.

I have ATM a 4ms Atoner clone and a behringer BSY600. I think the BSY is a digitech bass synth clone but it sounds and tracks better IMO.

Are you a Chinese company potentially about to rip off hard working individuals so you can easily make clones? There are plenty of those already. Use your resources and take the time to come up with a cool unique product please, instead of regurgitating the same ol'.
Not saying that's what you're doing, but when I see that question, that's usually where it leads.

I bought one once (was a muff copy) to mess around with, play with cap values, paint different colors, try different voltage levels etc
Ended up blowing it the fuck up when I ran it too hot (prolly sent a full 110 volts at it lol)
I remember feeling kinda dizzy and nauseous when the burning smoke from the board and paint hit my lungs
I shrugged it off as lead based whatever
I'll prolly get cancer or something from it
Oh yeah, I also learned to not play with open wires directly from a wall outlet around pedals anymore
Unless I want to create that fantastic arc again, that thing was fucking cool
But my hand was not only burned, but also numb for the next six hours

to expound slightly, it comes down to whether me buying a clone will really hurt the builder's business and/or ability to create. i would not buy, e.g., a clone of one of Devi's pedals; if i hadn't been able to buy my old Truly Beautiful Disaster back, i'd have ordered from her because it's her idea and losing one sale could leave her in the lurch. similarly, i would not buy a clone of one of Tom's pedals, or the other folks with sub-forums, because they're small businesses that need and deserve support.
i'm even a little uncomfortable with clones of large-manufacturer stuff. i don't think i'd like people ripping me off for my art any better if i was on a major label as opposed to the self-publishing which is the only way an unknown 'gazer in his 50s is going to get music out. however, once a company like E-H has gotten to version 7 of the Big Muff, it seems OK to copy v.2 which is no longer built.
the unambiguous subset where i'm comfortable with clones is when the original manufacturer no longer exists or no longer builds the item in question. no one will be harmed today by a Shin-Ei clone, the multiple PLLs that are sprouting like mushrooms, or an amp that bites the design of my Electar Tube 10; thus i see no reason for those items to be sacrosanct.
