I had plans to buy a fender tube amp but a sunn beta lead combo is for sale at a local shop which is fucking surprising. $200. I dont doom but I do play noise. I wanted some tube warmth but if this amp kills, tell me if I should buy it. Tell me other things about it. Does it sound okay at lower volumes? Anything I should check for? All input is highly appreciated.

OH YES... Sunn Beta Lead is AWESOME...

Just see if you can play it and as long as it's in good shape and works, $200 is an "OF COURSE" type of thing... They have great Drive and get Super Loud and can do Clean at high Vol. no problem... Excellent pedal platform...

Do you have a 4x12 cause you'll need a cab to fully appreciate it...

DO IT!!!

It's loud as shit, built like a tank. It's got a crazy good overdrive to it when you crank it and jumper the inputs. Never really used one at super low volumes, but I was able to play mine in an apartment with 3 roommates for about a half hour before they got annoyed.

I play my Concert Bass on 1 or 2 all night... As long as you have a good pedal with Vol. before it you're good, the MINI is perfect for this but any boost (Klon) with decent Vol. will work...

Amps don't determine what you do.

Yes they do... You either get a Nu-Metal Amp or a Doom Amp or a Country Amp or a Post Amp or a Thrash Amp or a Shoegaze Amp or a Classic Rock Amp or a Jazz Amp or an Indie Amp or a Pop Amp or a New Wave Amp or a Grind Amp or a Punk Amp or a Noise Amp or an EDM Amp or GTFO...

I would like to see that

$200 sounds like a killer deal, where I live you can't even get a valvestate for that price.

re-I don't doom.

Regardless, 200 is definitely go-time price assuming it all checks out. Has it been tech'd recently?

If you ever find yourself on the mainland ('cause your in Hawaii, right?) you can certainly flip it for a profit.

Ohh I just mentioned because Sunn amps are synonymous with doom. I really found it hard to believe one woubd up on this rock. There are mostly only old rich blooz players here. And reggae/island players. Wait...reggae-doom. IM ON IT.

Doom is basically just really slow reggae.
The huge amount of bass was always there.

Sunn's were common in the 80's and are/were a Fenderish offshoot... No surprise they are on your Rock...

Kids need to get over associating gear with genre... I mean I can see how since they are spelled alike you could get confused but really there is no correlation...

Yus. Historically, Sunn were the fucking bee's knees high end shaq diesel shit, and crushingly expensive to boot.

You can thank Louie, Louie for your prospective new jam.

There's a few cool reads from some OG's in Talkbass about 'em, from what I recall.
