Zoom R16 and Tascam US1800 Questions

So I recently wanted to buy a zoom r16 to record directly into my computer using it as a controller and interface, thinking I could record all 8 inputs as separate tracks on cubase. That is not the case since it only has 2 outs.
ALTHOUGH I could record on all 8 tracks and dump them from the SD card onto cubase and mix.
My questions is, the two outputs - are they stereo accounting for two outputs, only allowing one mic to record straight from the interface to the computer? Or will it allow me to record two mics on two separate tracks directly onto cubase from the Zoom using it as an interface?
The Tascam US1800 has 4 outs. Does this mean it has two stereo tracks going into the DAW or 4 seperate tracks from 4 mics going into the DAW?
Quite confused.
Thanks for any help!
