I finally managed to find great pickups for fuzz in all positions.
YMMV of course.
G&L USA Legacy
the SD pickup was the real surprise. it came with the guitar and I was pretty sure I'd have to replace it right away, but it's mid heavy sound is really nice for my kind of fuzz tones.
