Built a 1 knob fuzz, sounds great, but high pitches noise

I built the DAM meatheadl fuzz (from the 1 knob fuzz bonanza on tagboard effects). It's sounding great, but when I roll off the volume on my guitar, it has this really loud high pitched noise. What do you guys think is wrong? There's seriously no problem until the guitar volume is ALL the way down. It's not gradual at all. Did I fry a transistor?

My bad,
Here's the circuit... quite messy, but it isn't shorting anywhere as far as I can see.
What worries me is that the circuit sounds fine when the volume is up, honestly it sounds perfectly fine.
but when i roll down the guitar vol it gets depressing
and I used this wiring for the switch

I should also note that it's very loud, louder than any of my other pedals

I've heard of using a very small value cap across gain stages, or even the whole circuit to filter out high pitch noise, but obviously that will be happening all the time.

using the 'battleship' numbering scheme for that perf picture (1-2-3 etc across, A-B-C etc down) it looks like there's a solder bridge between 7A and 7B.

it was a piece of loose solder, I removed it. and I still have the problem....

can you post pictures of the finished build? I can not troubleshoot it from a picture of the circuit board that is not even in a box. aen made a good point about adding a cap between two stages that are out of phase to create negative feedback. but before we even go there, I want to understand the problem you are experiencing in detail. an audio recording of the noise would also help.

Here are some more pics of the circuit. Ignore the calculus homework in the back.
Audio file soon to come.

I think it may be the Pot on the pedal. When the pot is upright it can sound good, but my sound quality freaks out when i move the pot slightly. HELP!

ok that last link worked. the other links did not work or the mp3 did not work. what I hear is not a constant tone. it is starting and stopping. it does not fade in and fade out. how loud is your amp? it could also be happening from your speaker back to guitar in the usual way. when that tone was comming in and out, what were you doing to make it happen? even if it is a bad pot, there must be some vibration on the pot to create that on off on pattern of tones. was your hand touching the pot shaft the whole time? was the pot in your hand or flat on the table? I would suggest putting it in a box to see if the problem goes away. if you have an extra pot, you can swap out the bad pot and test it before you put it in a metal enclosure. you should also test with headphones and no amp to see if you can reproduce the problem.

:/ It was a constant tone. The clip was me rolling my guitar volume on and off. As I said earlier, when the volume is rolled all the way down, it creates that tone. It is constant. I was not touching any part of the pedal. help
