suck it bitches. the ORST arrived today.
Sounds fucking fantanstiche. I promise I will do clips--but I will have to figure something out--because my iphone cam isn't great at handing extremely loud settings, which is where this amp shines. it honestly sounds great at all volumes. in terms of EQ, I gotta say--this thing covers just about all the spectrums. it didn't expect it to get as bright as it does--it may be brighter than my hiwatts. it also can get dark as fuck too. the only thing it doesn't do is break up at lower volume levels, you really gotta push it, but when it does it sounds fucking glorious.
I have a feeling that since this was a little later ORST, it's basically using an OR100 chassis. looks like everything is orig--partridges, caps, even the tubes looks orig. the EL34's may be non-orig, but if so, they haven't been replaced for a very long time. I see some bubbles popping up on the bottoms of the electrolytics--so i'm guessing it will need a cap job at some point.
it also probably needs to have a ground pin installed. the bulgin is missing a pin. the orig cord it came with is the 2-prong euro cable. i'm using my hiwatt bulgin right now. sounds like there's more 60 cycle hum than on my other amps. is this hard to do? I may have my tech take care of it when I get the cap job done.
