Cheap Jazzmaster/ Jagmaster Knock-offs?

What are some brands that are currently producing cheap Jazzmaster-like guitars? I know of Stagg's M350 and M350, the Hodson Jazzcat/ Surfcat and Alden's Surf Caster... Not sure how easy it would be to get these last two here in the U.S. I'm really just looking for guitars with the JM shape, don't care what kind of bridge or p'ups, but it must have a 25.5" scale length. Also being readily available in the North America would be a major plus. Oh, price range - I guess anything under $500, preferably.
I'm looking because one of my '02 Jagmasters is about to take a major shit, that I can't/ don't want to fix (The body's about to snap down the center for a second time and I don't really want to go through the hassle of Gorilla gluing it again.)

i seem to recall that SX had some jag/zz inspired guitars... not directly copied but similar in style and function. they're CHEAP and i've always seen favorable reviews.
i've always thought the reverend jetstreams were kind of jagzzy as well.

Really? The body has been through a lot of shit - rammed into amps, hit with wrenches/ screwdrivers/ drumsticks, and the whole string path has been torn from the body and put back with Gorilla Glue, the neck joint is missing a couple of chunks of wood, the section of wood where the bridge attaches has been torn out and replaced and, now the lower bout is slowly cracking off. I'll take pictures later, if you'd like. It's not pretty.

That'd be the SJM, and I've had one since '05. It's a great guitar, but the neck that one is a bit chunky for me (not sure if it's been updated, or anything). But, all -in-all a great value. It's been through most of the same abuse the aforementioned Jagmaster has been, and has held up a lot better. So, I might end up with a couple of those. I'm loving the white, hardtail, dual humbucker models. They need a coral pink and surf green version, now.
Those are fucking beautiful, but I'd need to try one, first. Not sure if I'd be keen on the whole rosewood bridge thing. It would be interesting playing black/ doom metal with lipsticks, though.

The Jagmaster that started this thread...

Close-up with no bridge and Gorilla Glue I'm putting in the screw holes and other spaces to keep it from just literally falling apart.

A close-up of missing neck joint chunks.

Close-up of where the body tore apart the first time, and my extremely crappy, though amazingly stable trem block using 2x4 and Gorilla Glue

And, the bridge I put in to replace the trem

It actually hasn't failed me for the past two years... I just did an extremely fast and crappy job of it. I could have worked all the missing chunks back in, but said fuck it. And, this is the third time I've repaired a guitar like this with Gorilla glue - a 70's Les Paul (lower bout and neck joint) and a Kramer Striker (headstock) and, those two never gave me problems, well until I put my whole 200 lbs into the LP. I love that stuff. I'd think I would drink it if I knew it wouldn't kill me.

don't get me wrong...gorilla glue is bad ass. however it swells and actually displaces the pieces it's bonding together. it will still work but you're fukking up the resonance on the guitar by separating mass. the break will now absorb resonance.
and by looking at your pic, you can see that it grows and is out of control.
by all means, use it if you must but if you'd use something like this:
http://shop.ebay.com/items/_W0QQ_nkwZti ... omZQQ_mdoZyour guitar repair would be stronger and look a shit load better. wood is still wood and is easy to bond without going with extreme adhesives.
.....although that is a bad break to begin with and lots of wood is missing so it's just a matter of time on it anyway.
not getting on ya...just trying to help...

Oh, I knew you weren't giving me any shit, my apologies if I came off defensive... I knew it swelled, but didn't care too much, as I'd just gotten the silver sparkle one to replace it. I just wanted it to be playable
You're right about the resonance, it's extremely twangy now as has much less sustain than it did before. I think it's definitely time to put this one to rest. I'll give it one last show, and probably end up pulling a Townshend on the thing.

Certainly wouldn't be the first time, as you can see

well, there are these jay turser guitars, theay are pretty cheap and there is a model pretty like a jag - jazzmaster.
http://cgi.ebay.com/Jay-Turser-Daphne-B ... 240%3A1318I don't like the third pickup but, well, you can always take it out.
By the way, has anyone of you tried a jay turser? I've heard they are pretty good for the price but... pretty good like a 600$ epiphone? like an edwards guitar? like a good old fender?

Wow. I totally forgot about Jay Turser and I even wanted one about 2 months ago.
One of my old roommates had a Tele of theirs, it seemed decent, and really playable. But, he had changed out the pickups for dome kind of DiMarzios. I had a strat of theirs, which was alright, but I had to replace the neck as no matter what I did the neck was always bowed.
But, looking at the Surf Masters- I want Squier to re-release the 25.5" scale Jagmasters in bubblegum pink with brown tortoise pickguard. In fact, I think there should be more pink, white, surf green and sonic blue guitars available.
