I searched and didn't see anything here about Ghost. Forgive me if it's been discussed to death....

A few friends have been RAVING about Ghost's newest record so I finally got around to checking it out. Good shit! Kind of an old school Sabbath vibe with a shit ton of melody. The "schtick" runs strong with this band, Sunn O)))-style black robes, religious decadence, anonymous masked members know only as "nameless ghouls", and frontman Papa Emeritus II dressed in a Cardinal/Bishop robe plus skull paint.

Google their performance at Coachella, can't believe those dudes didn't die on stage from heatstroke, esp Papa who was rocking a leather/pleather robe atop his standard robing. Here they are ready to roll for their daytime set in the desert sun. Crazy fuckers.





Anyway, I'm a fan of "schtick" if the music stands on it's own (see: the Locust!) and I'm just now getting into these guys pretty hardcore, finally! Check 'em out if you haven't. I'll post a video here, looks all late 60's or early 70's American Bandstandish-ish in terms of production, perfect really....

Saw them open for Mastodon. They were ok. I like Blue Oyster Cult.

They are a pretty cool band actually. And they have this making them super awesome and hilarious. Behndy might have one so I hope im not stealing his post

Man, I'm falling in love! So good, like Sabbath + Blue Oyster Cult + Floyd + Mercyful Fate + Voivod. Love the anonymity too, so rare now days. Even cooler that their physical appearance completely betrays their overall sound.

I'm so green in this particular situation. Just heard about 'em after being given the new record so totally clueless to their early output, super excited to check it out tho. Also clueless when it comes to Swedish bands so I wouldn't know the members even if they were revealed. I hear they have the singer figured but that only makes sense, dude wears no mask and that voice has to be recognizable.

They are one of those bands I either like more then I should or don't like them enough for theirs, in the end I think they just dress real cool.

Great band and performers. I saw them with Mastodon and Opeth a while ago and just caught them on a headlining tour last month in DC. If you even remotely like them on record, I highly recommend seeing them live. I'm hoping to catch them again this summer when they're playing a few shows with Skeletonwitch (who are also boss live). Zombie Queen is especially fun live...

Man, I would FUCKING love to catch 'em live but it looks like their only show anywhere even remotely close is Lollapalooza which is sold out and not my style, those insanely packed festivals tend to suck. I've had this happen before, discover a band then realize they just came through my town shortly before that discovery, always a tough pill to swallow! That didn't happen here but they were def close enough to catch on multiple stops. Pisses me off. Oh well, they're on my tour radar now, gonna see 'em the first chance I get.

I'm slow. I had heard of them but I wasn't paying attention. I heard year zero on the radio today and im hooked. July 29th they'll be in Baltimore so I may need to catch that.
