Skreddy Zero

So...as I mentioned in another thread I'm on "the list" for an ernie and was given the option to also get a zero. Similar parts but a very different pedals.
You can guess where he got the name for the Zero from, so I figured a few of you must have owned one before.
Worth it?

Sorry I had to say it.

i have a mayo w/ full mids. i'd never sell it for ANYTHING. the zero does have that legendary status... i can't help but feel like i might already have the super aggressive tone covered with the hyperion though.

Did he give you any indication on wait time? I've been on the Ernie list for a few months and am hoping I have the money when I'm up.
I had a ? Lady and from what I've been told it's the same circuit as the Ernie, but it uses the transistors from the Mayo and Pink Flesh. The Ernie uses the transistors from the Zero. Didn't bond with the Lady as much as I did with the Pink Flesh I had (never should have sold that).

You have to ask to get a zero/ernie he isn't advertising them and there are limited parts available.
Mayo is great but you can only get them used (and at a premium) these days. I don't mind the wait for an ernie/zero if it saves me money.
I'll probably end up going with both...can always trade them for some shiny devi pedals if I don't bond with them
No word on build time...I promised Marc I wouldn't pester him about the wait time and I plan on sticking to that. I will be compulsively checking my email though.
I might pick up one of the new wicker muffs in the mean time.

on the openhaus waitlist too, i think that'll be my real weapon for serious br00talz though.
I honestly think the shoe gazer/white spider cover most if not all pumpkins fuzz tones. So if you get a white spider and an SM OR Shoe Gazer with an 05, I'd say you're set pumpkins wise.

Supposedly the mojo in the mayo (hmm...) is the NOS Transistors rating at a certain hFe. Marc has openly posted the information on the pedal at FSB (it's a triangle muff with tweaks). He doesn't mind people building their own since he has no plans of really bringing them back. I got a nice layout and plan on building one with the mid switch. I'd like to see what the fuss is about (and don't have the desire or ability to fork out $400+ for one used.)
I'd get on the list. And at the very least you don't like it, you sell it and will get maybe more than your money back used!
What's this openhaus?

toneczar openhaus seems pretty sweet...probably could replace most of my dirt section if I wanted to go for a small board. Maybe for christmas

the zero is just as good as zero imo. I have both. I bought the mayo new in 07 with mid swtich and zero used tho with black t shirt finish. i say they are both awesome as fuck........i think zero nails mellon collie but im not exactly a good guitarist, but i love the sounds zero makes and i can play rythm guitar so i think its just as equally a great pedal. I play the mayo more, but thats only because its moresomething........ i can't put my finger on it.......... zero is just as good though.... i love both....... i just wish zero could nail jellybelly more it does do a great job on practilly every other song on that album tho especially "fuck you"

Little Big Muff PI / Bass Big Muff PI owns all boutique muff's imho.
I'm thinking the even new Muff does as well.
Really? I just finished building a triangle clone and did a shoot out with a NYC (maybe 2001), a Russian, and a byoc Ram's Head......to me the NYC RI was by far the weakest, most unfocused sounding one of the bunch. But of course I like muffs to be really bassy and very compressed.Reading up on the newer reissues and how they use sillicium(?) based diodes which I guess are more uncompressed and more on the treble side make me feel that its not just me when it comes to the nyc's. The triangle was super bassy and super gainy with a real searing top end and the russian was very close to the triangle but a bit less compressed and a bit more mid range clarity.
I think the russians are the best made(by ehx themselves) ones that I have played, they just fall apart very easily(pots seem to go out on all of them eventually).

NYC =/= little big muff, which was closer in tone to the russian version.

i think that in this case i am going to bow to skreddy's mojo, which lots of people will write off as 'cork sniffing.' i think it's the fact that he uses specific carbon comp resistors and uses ceramic caps where some might use film, not to mention the NOS transistors. put this next to a newer model, or another boutique version that might use film caps and metal film resistors... both are wholly muff sounds. some people might not even hear a difference. i do hear a difference, and that's why i'll never sell the mayo.

So seeing as the zero and mayo are sP names.....is The Screwdriver based on The White Stripes?
