Well if you had money and where looking at buying an guitar or amp in the same price range what would you get, a high quality guitar or high quality amp?

I probley get the amp.

Get an amp. A really nice guitar doesn't make up for a shit amp.

The oldskool rule of thumb is.......if you have 1000 bucks to spend.....500 goes to the guitar....500 goes to the amp...me personally, I feel that a nice loud amp isn't gonna be so much fun with a guitar that doesn't fit your hands,sounds good, plays good,etc. Volume isn't sooo much an issue anymore since alot of places have a pa(as opposed to the 50's and 60's where it was appropriate to turn a 100watt tube amp to 10). I've played very expensive guitars and amps and have been dissapointed most of the time. I have also been playing newer cheaper amps and guitars and have been stunned (like squiers new guitars and amps like the valve king ). I think there is a way to get a great guitar and a great amp without breaking the bank. here's a good comparison....john mayer strat through a bogner shiva= not impressed
squier telecaster deluxe through black heart amp= amazed.

amp fo sho. A guitar needs to have decent playability, and it helps if the p'ups don't totally suck, but a crappy amp will make any guitar sound bad.

definitely an amp - cheap guitars can be modded and made to sound better, harder to do with amps, unless you know what you're doing.

You can make the meat taste entirely different depending on how you cook and season it, but if you start with a piece of shitty meat it's going to suck.
