yeah that seems right. saw her play about a year before this, cant remember what i saw on her board, never really got super close to it though.

honestly think she is a genius...one of the most brilliant songwriters around. her most recent album...wasnt realy my jam tho. but her first 2 i listened to like a hundred times combined :hobbes:

Sounds more like her DBA Interstellar Overdrive Deluxe to me.

She talks about stuff in these:

She was so ridiculously overexposed last year and it seems the tides have turned on her. Everyone I know that liked her back in the day hated the fact she was getting so popular (of course ;)) and all the rest were your standard fickle music fan. Getting "big", even for a moment, can be the ultimate death blow to these indie types. Before you know it, she's gonna have to get back in the robe and perform with The Polyphonic Spree again, if they're still kicking I mean....

I really dug her set opening for midlake. She did an acoustic(y) thing with a funky mic. I'm pretty sure that's before she was super official.

I saw her a couple more times, then she moved to Brooklyn. I'm a fan of her live stuff more than her recordings. My wife loves it all though.

yeah i was wondering that also. like the weird synthy lead tone? i think it comes back at like 9:25 ish

also, yeah, screw the self-righteous "indie types" i thought the music was the important thing? haha, yeah i know i sound really naive.

ive been over the whole brooklyn hipster thing/scene, right around since the moment i heard "fun." :picard:

and that fucking period...

I just saw something in passing about a new Spree album on its way. Didn't know she was associated -- they were more my wife's thing.

I kinda liked her album with Byrne. Whatever was the new big thing she put out 3-4 years ago didn't really do anything for me at the time. I probably ought to give another spin.

Her album with David Byrne was super good, and I loved Strange Mercy too. But what do I know, I only got into her last year!

I really hate the whole 'they got big now they suck' mentality.

This makes me think that one day I too will like old people music, makes me sad...

Yeah, same here, never knew much about her until she was everywhere all of a sudden, couldn't avoid her if you tried. Or was it 2011 maybe? Shortly after Strange Mercy was released...

And yeah, I hate that mentality too but that's how SO MANY people roll when it comes to music sadly.
