I want to build a guitar and a bass cabinet with my grandpa, who has a pimped out woodworking set up in his garage. We've got all the tools, but we need some info on the science of cabinet making and some plans would be nice. Does anyone have any helpful links or book recommendations?

My grandpa too! I've built both my pedal boards with him.

Box car racing: ILF edition. Whose grandpa will be able to crank out the loudest cabinet by the end of summer?

the decent plywood you'll be using to do this project, cabinet or marine grade ply, usually void free birch, comes in a 5'x5' sheet. the standard 4x12 size of roughly 30"x30"x14.5" is based on the idea that you can get pretty much exactly one cab per sheet. so there's science for you.

1/4 inch finger joints ftw! Do it up in a clear finish and show off your wood.
