EQ pedals? To use or not to use?

I'm curious if any of you use Equalizer pedals. Is it worth it to have something that "fine tunes" your sound? Even if your amp has three tone knobs?

Sometimes it's cool to EQ earlier in the chain so your pedals behave a little differently.

two buddies of mine who are impressive solo thrashers were never into pedals until the EQD tone job. they both use nice guitars & amps too, just love being able to push certain frequencies at certain times.

Use. Passive Vari-tone-in-a-pedal before finicky fuzz.

I ought to get some sort of parametric midrange eq going, too. Lots of players with tone so good that it makes you wonder at this, well they've had the Boss Metal Zone on the floor. Not for the dirt but to be able to use the parametric mid-band eq to tweak their drive sound early.

Parametric style EQ is like a shortcut to discovering sweetspots in other pedals, amps...even the instrument itself.
