Help me in my guitar search...

Ok so im looking at guitars....ive got 2200, but 600 of that is spoken for on a cab. Another 360 is spoken for in pedals. That leaves $1240 to buy a guitar with. Ideally I would get something around 4-500 range and use the rest for pedals but if its something really siq id go higher. Here are the strong contenders:

This amazing yamaha. Its amazing and a gorgeous blue and a funky giant brass bridge but it would take all of my money. Also im not sure about having a guitar shipped from japan. I dont know much about setting up guitars and im pretty sure id have to when this gets here.

A g&l tele. These are always available cheap and are quality instruments. Only thing im not sure of is the neck thickness. I really cant fuck with thick necks.

Various inexpensive used tells. Gc used is littered with them. Dime a dozen.

Hagstrom reissue swede. You can get these for like 300 on gc used....though im not sure about the neck thickness.

What kind of body/scale length/pickups are you looking for?

For cheap- squier j mascis jazzy. No contest at that price for new guitars imo.
Also that new g&l fallout looks sick, it's about $1200 and has a thinner neck profile than the teles if I'm not mistaken.

Dont really care/dont really care/dont really care.

I need something that plays well, $1200 or under, and has a thinnish neck.

Thats really all i need honestly. Ideally Id like to find something somewhere between 500-800. Im thinking im just going to end up with an SG or a telecaster. Its probably going to be an sg because teles are looking like they all have boatnecks.

I don't remember what the necks on those Yamahas are like... but damn those things are cool, out of what you posted in post one that is what I would pick.

Dude, that Yamaha is SIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIICK. From just reading the post I was all "eh, there have to be more reasonable options," but having looked at it... I would go with that.

But then, I have no experience with Yamahas or shipping from Japan.

My friends' store just got in a pair of really nice early 80s Ibanez Artists:

I've checked them both out and they are killer, and in your price range.

The Yamaha is nice indeed, but that's way too much cash for what it is. Think of resale value. A Hagstrom or a Tele are both better options, IMO.

i have no experience with the sg 50/60/70 tributes but sg standards and sg specials often have baseball bat necks. my buddy has a special from the early 90s and that is a huge neck. my 71 sg deluxe has more of a slim taper type neck. :idk:

Since you cash to burn, why not pickup a Nelson or a Harvester? The socialite is real purdy.... and Harvester can do the aluminum neck thing.

I dont have like $3000 for the harvester and I'm not stoked on the nelsons enough to buy one and not have money for a cab.

I played another ranaldo today that SUCKED. Im off them entirely.

What didn't you like about the Ranaldo? Everything??

My old TM was just OK, solid guitar and it looked super nice but needed some upgrades for sure. Traded it instead.
