Help! Need infinite sustained notes for cheap...

Okay, so I have a friend who is a cellist and needs something that will generate single sustained notes (like say, a constant D note) for her to practice scales and intonation with. She doesn't have an amp, otherwise, I would just suggest an oscillator. Need something sub $50. Needs to be hands free. Any ideas? I was thinking a cheap keyboard or something may have a feature where you could play a note and have it sustain infinitely, but I have no idea if there is a cheap one that can do this.
Also, should note that I believe she has an ipad, so if you know of a cheap app that can do this too, let me know.

There are guitar tuners that you can have play the notes indefinitely

if she has an ipad, she could just use Garageband to do this.. and she wouldn't have to spend anything

yah. a few of the synths like AniMoog have hold settings so it'll loop the note you hit, but just go into Garageband and do a pattern with that note and loop it?

this, i have an old $10 Korg tuner that does it.
I bet there's a free ipad app that is way better though.
