"Alternative Modulation" ie vibes, roto sims, and filters...

I don't know what else to call them. Flanger, phaser, chorus, trem seem like the "standard modulators."
I'm looking into new modulation pedals. I have a vibrato, flanger, and a tremolo. They bounce on and off the board but I think I want to try something new.
I never really hear much about vibes, roto simulators, and LFO-y filters. Anyone have any input about any of the three? Or some other not so standard modulation effects? I don't know what else to say so I'm just gonna throw out what I feel like saying about them.
Rotary sim pedals interest me most I think. I don't know why. It's like a dirty chorus and a flanger mixed together with some other fluffy stuff. I just like the texture they throw off. Some of them are pretty expensive but the Tech 21 sounds pretty swag and isn't high high dolla.
I'm not too sure about vibes yet. Kinda phasery sometimes and phaser isn't my most favorite usually. But the throbby-ness is tempting! A Micro Vibe seems cheap enough to pick one up to try it and see what I think. I think vibes would be really nice with some fuzz or od.
And with filters, if I got one of those, its gotsta be one with a siney wave lfo. It can have other stuff but I really like the wavey filter sound but it sucks to do with a wah and that's like all I try to do with my wah. :/
BUT WHAT DO YOU THINK? What do you dig/not dig/recommend?
TL;DR
Talk to me about vibes, rotary simulators, filters, and other odd-er modulation pedals.

Well the subdecay prometheus dlx looks pretty great. Filter with an awesome amount of different modes and stuff.

to go with what you already have, a whetstone phaser will give you 4 and 2 stage phasing (2 stage is vibe-ish) + with variations of the sound and filtering + a speed range from about 45 secs to a pretty good ring modish speed
at the other end of the budget scale you could also try an old boss ph-2 which will give you 10/12 stage phasing, a good speed range and crazy amount of resonance and depth available

Source Audio has their Orbital modulation pedal which has two interesting settings, "Res 1" and "Res 2." Unfortunately, instead of digging into those two and really exploring their possibilities (giving more room for controls unique to those two settings), they tried to make it a jack of all trades, and work in settings for phase, modulation and chorus, and just give some general controls that apply to all of the settings. Plus the frickin thing seems to forget what it was set on last whenever you turn it off, which is a big pain in the ass.

The copilot gyroscope is really cool. Modulated filter son! Throw it on step mode, run it into some delay, and...

If you want to test out a bunch of stuff, pick up an m5/9. I wasn't a big fan of phasers, and then I tried the barberpole and it rules. There's a couple other not so normal goodies in there too.

Been thinking about checking out a Rotary speaker effect recently for psyche freakouts. Have an old school Boss Hi-Band flanger up for trade that gets close. May need to reconsider that now that I think about it!

happily, the market has several nice filter options. the Subdecay Prometheus DLX has a remarkable array of waveform options; the filter itself has a very clean, almost sterile feel when run alone which i don't like so much--i WANT weird colorations in my sound--but which might be ideal at the end of a long chain. you can think of the Copilot Tap Gyroscope as a simpler version of the Prometheus, with a smaller variety of waveforms and a funkier, more colored filter. i own one, and it brings the warble. for a non-stepped filter, the Iron Ether Xerograph has a wonderful, juicy filter sweep that goes way beyond the typical envelope filter; i'd get one if i could justify to myself owning a third filter pedal. my favorite standard envelope filter is the EMMA DiscumBOBulator.

All my "alternative mod" has been replaced by a Mobius and I'm happier with this current setup.

Run a tremolo into a filter? Like a IE Xerograph DLX. The step mode on the standard Prometheus is very cool and you can get some sick patterns because the rate and step knob are interactive

I LURVE the Mobius's rotary sim and univibe. I haven't played with the modulated filter yet, though.

Yeah, me either, still have a Prometheus DLX I'm using but I know a few people who've given that pedal the boot in favor of the Mobius. Need to get to comparing those two soon.
Only mod the Mobius can't replace thus far is my Cosmichorus v3 and Faye's Her. The rest is good to go, Goatkeeper 3 just got pulled off over the weekend after a couple years uncontested.
