Post-hardcore - Give me a hand here.

I have always had a problem with finding Post-hardcore stuff I really click with but it feels like it could be a genre I would really enjoy if I found the right pocket of talent. I have gotten as far as Fugazi, Steve Albini's projects, Refused and Faraquet all of which I LOVED but beyond that...

. Tried Jawbox, Nomeansno, Alice Donut and some other stuff I can't think of but mostly I just find it all kind of boring. Leaves kind of a 90's rock bad taste in my mouth. I guess I'm after stuff that is a bit dissonant, math-y, all around a interesting and with vocals that don't sound like a squealing rat-child is behind the mic. Heavy-ish is also kind of cool as well. Not necessarily distortion heavy but has a bit of energy and punch?
I don't know, I'm having trouble explaining this. Anyway, got any suggestions?

Is Tera Melos considered post-hardcore? They're definitely math-y and dissonant ... (and fucking awesome)
And what about These Arms Are Snakes? I totally dig 'em

I've always found Tera Melos hard to categorise. They get the math rock label a lot but if you really think about it their music is like a weird fusion of pop, jazz and hardcore punk (which I guess makes them somewhat post-hardcore).
These Arms Are Snakes are pretty wicked too, they're definitely closer to what most people think of as post-hardcore
Bastro are pretty damn hard to beat IMO, Sing The Troubled Beast and Diablo Guapo are incredible albums.

I was gonna say These Arms Are Snakes.
Botch is definitely on the heavy side but they're fucking awesome.
We Are The Romans is an incredible album.
Maybe try these, too:
Fear Before the March of Flames - Always Open Mouth
The Felix Culpa - Sever Your Roots
Glassjaw?
The Blood Brothers?

Don't know whether it's in style but Mastodon gets mentioned over on Allmusic being Post Hardcore as well.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ihZn_T6PbMIhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jx2fp-kKOIwIn that case I think Isis could also be mentioned, but one would probably file them under Post Rock / Post Metal.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6Qz8e7pgy_YI find Converge to be pretty cool as well, quite apart from other Hardcore / Post Hardcore bands soundwise I think, and they Rock live, as does / did Isis.

I never really know where to put this, genre-wise...other than on the top shelf in every category that fits.
I guess it's mostly noise rock. File under:
