I was considering this little guy and was looking on the TC page and saw on some comments that a few people are having issues with the switch on it. Some people are saying there is a like a millisecond between end and start of loops which becomes very noticeable after a bit, especially when playing with others or a drum machine. Maybe it is people's ability to tap tempo isn't that great, and they are blaming the Ditto because there are happy owners too.
What do the real deal motherfuckers here think?

Not that I'm a real-deal motherfucker, but I will say that they're probably bad at tapping the switch at the right time, and bands generally are terrible at playing along with anything that has a set tempo.

Unless your loops are being electronically synced with the drum machine it's SOOOPER hard to get your loop to stay in time with the drum machine. And getting your loops so they're in-time enough to play with others is hard too. Because even if you have a perfect sense of timing and tempo, if you're playing with someone who doesn't the loop's not going to work anyway. For both these reasons I never try to use loops in a band with more than two people, or with a drum machine that can't sync electronically with the looper.

Yeah, I get that and that is why I am thinking that I will go with the Pigtronix Infinity Looper. Midi Sync, tons of storage, a few effects (reverse, half speed).

I haven't noticed any real tempo issues with my Ditto, but then again, I mostly use it to either a) build soundbeds underneath my actual playing/the rest of my band or b) to help with some of my solo song writing. In both cases 'perfect' tempo is pretty much unimportant.

Yeh, I agree with everything that has been said too. The Ditto works perfectly fine, it's a great looper. But it's nearly "inhuman" to be perfectly synched to the drum machine... But nothing's wrong with the Ditto !

The Ditto has performed flawlessly since I picked one up, no issues whatsoever. If you're wanting a simple, effective looper, that's the way to go, nothing else quite like it that I've ever seen or tried.

If you want something more advanced and feature heavy, I'd suggest a DL4 or even better yet, a Timeline. Those are the absolute best I've ever owned in terms of functionality. The Pigtronix looks cool too and like the JamMan series, it'll allow saving of loops to some extent...

I am pretty sure that I am buying a Pigtronix today. The 2 inputs and it has TONS of storage. 2 loops (plus the overdubs) with options on how they interact with each other.

I think if you're gonna do loops + a drum machine you should just run the drum machine into the looper if you're having problems syncing up with it. or if it phases out time maybe you should stop being so repetitive and move your phrases more (only kidding)

That's really cool that the pigtronix has a midi sync feature, I always thought that guy could do a lot of cool things that other stompbox loopers couldn't.

I saw Owen Pallet play last night and he was playing with a band and looping a LOT. They had no problem staying in time with each other and the loops. The loops would last the whole 5 min song too. He said he was using a program called "super looper" I'm assuming that runs on a computer so maybe that would be out of the question. it worked really well for his band!
