just got an mkii and i love it.
as far as amps go im a marshall guy, and by that i mean plexi and prior only. i *HATE* the high gain marshalls.
ive owned a few non master volume marshalls, both orig and reissue, both handwired and pcb, and i really dig this pedal. A LOT.
i was wondering if anyone has played all 3 versions (original, MKII, MKIII) how they compare and differ and whatnot.

I've got the brand new one and it toally rules in Superlead mode. Love the 3-band EQ and the gain range is fantastic, from the tiniest bit of grit to thick saturated heaviness. I tend to run it somewhere in the middle in terms of gain tho. However, the Superbass mode is just OK, not that thrilled with it honestly. That's fine tho as I use a BAT Revelation for my Superbass sounds and that thing is one of the best "Marshall + BALLS" pedals I've ever heard, perfect IMO.
Sorry I can't compare the DLS to earlier versions, haven't owned any until now. The new one kills tho and seems to be the preferred model according to various forums I've sifted thru while researching comparisons. I think the improved EQ and SL/SB option are the primary appeal as they seem pretty equal in terms of sound quality.

I never tried any version of the CBred DLS.
But I think the ZVez Distortron is very good for the Marshall sound... I wonder how the Distortron compared to the DLS MkII

I have a DLS Mk1 but the revised version, so its the original with an dip switch inside which adds a lot more gain to it. With the switch on RAWK basically makes this a pretty good Distortion pedal especially at high volumes...I'm pretty sure my one was the basis for Mk2 with some more tweaks. i wouldn't get the Mk1, i don't think it has enough gain on tap but from Mk2 onwards they got real interesting. The latest one however is best of everything they made...with the superbass and superlead built in etc.
BTW...if you have a Monarch...DLS boosting a Monarch is total destruction!

I had a Mk1, and really didn't care for it. Fizzy, tinny, etc. I have a MkIII now, and really like it. It has a very wide gain range, and the tonestack is fun (it's not an EQ, it functions like a real Marshall tonestack, with all of the weird interactivity). Superbass mode sounds cool with single coils, Superlead amazing with humbuckers (though I'm sure you can make either work well with either).
