I'm right there with you AC. I can't believe i haven't figured out that there's a better way. Even after recently stocking up on a bunch of different trimpots, it never occurred to me that I should just use those instead of running a birdsnest of wires to regular old pots.

I've used those for prototyping, but I had a problem with them popping out of the holes. It could be different with a different breadboard, though... maybe?

The vertical mount "snap in" pots always worked better for me (with the little "snap in" parts cut off). The ones with the plastic knob for a shaft work especially well, but the one they sell at Mammoth is alright too. It just doesn't have a knob built in.

Trimmers work too, but I always found them a bit awkward to use if you're adjusting the knobs a lot. Those that EYG posted would probably work great, though since you can adjust them with your fingers.

not my fingers, they are a little stiff to turn and you have nothing to hold on to. you just use a mini screw driver. they do hold on to the breadboard tight so that makes up for it. the price and size has me sold on these. those ones with the mini plastic shaft look cool too. they were suggested on electro-music for semi-permanent breadboard use. I do not have part numbers handy but you can probably find them.

They're in the mouser catalog! I use them in my pedals lots. They're under a few different part numbers, but if you type in "Alpha 9mm snap in" on Mouser's search, you can get to the catalog page to pick the ones you want.
